A Definitive Guide on How to Lose Man Boobs Naturally

Causes of Gynecomastia and Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia is the occurrence of unusually large breasts in men. Gynecomastia is caused by a wide variety of things, some controllable and others not, and usually occurs in younger boys at the time of adolescence. As many as nine out of ten cases occur in males of this age range. Most often, the symptoms go away on their own relatively quickly as growth continues or behavioral habits change. For those who do not experience symptom relief and experience gynecomastia into young adult years and even on into adulthood, social burdens and personal body image issues often plague the individual’s personal health. As with most body image issues, this can put the individual at risk for unhealthy behaviors intended to correct the perceived body flaw.

Causes for gynecomastia
Gynecomastia causes include weight problems, puberty, genetic disorders, liver disease, tumors, steroid abuse, castration, and many medications’ side effects. For such a wide range of conditions that can lead to gynecomastia, there are relatively few remedies. For those experiencing gynecomastia as a result of weight gain, attaining a healthier body weight can help to alleviate the condition. It will not, however, completely eliminate it. Some cases of gynecomastia may be caused by drug and alcohol use. Potential patients should always try halting unhealthy habits before resorting to surgery. The condition may reverse on its own, removing the need for surgery. This saves both potential health risks as well as significant cost. If gynecomastia symptoms persist, factors beyond your control may be the root of the gynecomastia. In these cases, the only option for complete reversal of gynecomastia is surgical.

Gynecomastia and you
Usually, gynecomastia in itself does not pose a health risk. It is often an indicator of the presence of other health issues. When it comes to mental health, though, gynecomastia poses a host of psychological issues that must be dealt with even after the gynecomastia has been removed. In this way, surgery is only the first step in a long process of healing. The social stigmas associated with gynecomastia are great. Particularly in the case of young adults, re-learning appropriate body image and socialization are the key hurdles to overcome after surgery. Addressing the problem is half the issue for individuals suffering from these self-image issues due to their gynecomastia. Many have shame and embarrassment so deeply rooted that they are reluctant to speak to anyone about their gynecomastia. Having the courage to discuss their condition with a doctor is the courageous first step needed. Overcoming this silence will break a barrier and allow the individual to explore solutions instead of focusing on negatives.

Gynecomastia Surgery
A good candidate for surgical removal of gynecomastia is a healthy adult with resilient, elastic skin that is likely to rebound from the change in body contour. Plastic surgery is never recommended for unhealthy, overweight individuals, or those who drink or smoke regularly. These behaviors are thought to contribute to gynecomastia, and can cause recurrence of symptoms. Surgical gynecomastia removal is not an appropriate means to loose weight. There are risks associated with the procedure, although most are minor. These include swelling, loss of sensation in the area of surgery, and recurrence of gynecomastia symptoms.
